So last night, most of my way through my post, my hard-drive (essential computer thing that keeps everything running, for your dim wits) ground to a noisy halt! I lost most of the pictures from day 3 and day 4! Why? because it turns out those were the sections that got Extra corrupted! At least all my originals that had not been shrunk down for this blog have been more or less lost forever. How freaking annoying. It also means that I lost my ability to surf, download my pics, watch DVDs, and more or less control my life / entertain myself. Yeah I have become rather computer dependent.... :(, and my books have been pretty much read. Thankfully I backed up almost everything important the night before on my ipod. Why? well I had been suspecting this impending disaster for months, and got the whim to move some important stuff over to my "new toy". My computer(laptop) has been acting weird for a while, I decided to defrag because she was acting extra slow and retarded.... and thats what set it off. SHe started chirping, then squeeling like pig 20% into the defrag, Now, my poor laptop wont boot, :(. The question now, but a new one, or just a new HD. The lap top would have been 2 yrs old in july.
Enough about my pitiful computer situation though, now, about my trip. Woke up 5:30 am, packed up, then headed rather reluctantly to the Continental breakfast frenzy. Within 2 min of arriving some guy bumped me hard and splattered the front of me with hot oatmeal. It was bound to happen. I didn't even really react ( i was still crying inside cause my computer/life-force was dead), I just walked to the bathroom and tried to recover from the mess with what little super early morning energy I had. Lunch AND dinner; chinese buffet. Pretty much identical and both in Idaho.
We spent most of the day driving, We stopped in Salt Lake City in the morning to tour the mormon temple square, We eventually got an english tour guide (actually two cute girls from mexico, speaking in a mexican accent, but it was a nice change, and hell even if the tour had been in spanish at least i still would have understood it!) After the tour we stopped at the Great Salt Lake in utah, It will come as no surprise to those of you that know me, that I promptly tasted the water, then spend a good deal of time stooped over the water with both my hands in the water up to my elbows playing with the sea monkeys (brine shrimp) that were breeding in the shallows of the water. I kept scooping them up in my hands and watching them swim around. I think this is one of my favorite moments of the trip by far. Strange, but ever since i can remember,,, it is the small and present bits of non-human life that have captured my attention and heart. I then played with the cool green algae, and worm shell bodies that littered the coastline of the water. the Algae was this dark green that made made beads all along the shore like sand. I squished around in the wet shore, and threw a few dark rocks into the water. The place was like a bit like tropical beach. Salty, clear blue, and sandy.
We then went to a mine tour, why? I think because it was on the way back to ST, George where we were to spend the night. Anyway it was called Bingham Canyon, which is really a giant hole in the ground made by man to mine copper and various other minerals. We looked at the big hole, then saw the museum which explained a little about the history and how copper ore is refined. to be honest, I thought the museum part was pretty interesting.
Overall we spend about 3 hours touring, 6 hours driving, and 2 hours stopped eating. I am looking forward to tommorow when we will finish heading back down south for out last day of travel. We are heading to the Grand Canyon in Arizona. In conclusion for the day, i think I am a 4 day vacation kind of person. Every time I have taken a trip away from home longer than that in the last few years i get tired and frustrated by day 4. I think its that I try and do too much too fast and all day long without resting. This can only be held up in good spirits with almost no sleep for about 4 days before the pissed off factor overwhelms the having a good time experience.
